AMRITSAR SAHIB— Giani Gurbachan Singh, the appointed Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib, stated on Friday March 14, 2014, that should the Badal family, or any other Sikh candidate, visit Dera Sirsa to seek votes, rigid action would be taken against them.

He said, however, that if there is any evidence of members of Badal family visiting Dera Sirsa, it should be produced before Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

The Sirsa based Sacha Sauda cult has in past tried to influence elections in Punjab and neighboring states.  The dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim enjoys a large following.

The Sacha Sauda cult leader Gurmeet Ram Rahim had sparked a controversy when he dressed in attire similar to those adorned by Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
