FATEHGARH SAHIB, Punjab—Bhai Sarabjit Singh Khalsa, son of Shaheed Bhai Beant Singh who assassinated Indira Gandhi, on Sunday, joined Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in the presence of its state President Parkash Singh Jandali, and other leaders.
Bhai Khalsa had contested the Lok Sabha elections from Bathinda on the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Amritsar ticket. He was also a contestant in the assembly elections from Bhadaur in 2007 from the Sangur ticket of the same party. On both of the occasions, he did not succeed, however from Bhadaur, he was more successful.
The BSP is likely to field him as its candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Fatehgarh Sahib reserve constituency, party sources said. When Bhai Khalsa was questioned about this, he said it is up to the party leadership to decide on the matter.
