Bay Area Sikh Alliance Supporters Falsify Official Documents in Fremont Gurdwara Elections

FREMONT, California, USA—Serious concerns regarding Bay Area Sikh Alliance Organization have emerged since Sikh24 last published an article exposing possible Indian Government efforts to sabotage the control of Fremont Gurdwara Sahib.  This morning, we were sent scanned pages of a document that was allegedly distributed by Bay Area Sikh Alliance Organization supporters at Fremont Gurdwara Sahib.

The document claims that the “United States Sikh Student Association”, USSSA, supports amending Fremont Gurdwara Sahib bylaws. Many of the suggested amendments were bizarre such as requiring a ballot initiative in order to spend more than $2999. Ironically, there was no mention of Supreme Council members needing to be practising Sikhs in the pamphlet.

The document is obviously fabricated by individuals who seek to make an impact in the upcoming elections.  The cover of the document holds images and logos of UC Berkeley, Stanford, and NYU.  Sikh24 works directly with a number of Sikh Student Organizations located across the United States and has confirmed that none of these organizations have partnered with the “USSSA” nor did they allow the use of their logos in the document that has been circulated. We have also a copy of correspondence with Stanford Administration confirming that USSSA did not have permission to use Stanford’s photograph.

Although we do not endorse a particular committee in the upcoming elections, we have been asked by Sikh Student Organizations to expose the fabricated documents so the Sikh Sangat is not misled for the elections due on March 9.  Sikh24 also tried contacting the phone number published on the document, but no one was available to answer.
