AMRITSAR, India—Dal Khalsa’s youth wing Sikh Youth of Punjab (SYP) has resolved to commemorate March 2, the 105th birth anniversary of Sirdar Kapur Singh, who was awarded National Professor of Sikhism, modern day ideal, and sovereign character of the Sikh people.

SYP activists have decided to hold a seminar to recall, and reaffirm, the contribution of Sirdar Kapur Singh, who without fear, or favor, forthrightly laid out the true spiritual, and, secular philosophy and politics of Sikhism. The seminar will be held at Gurdwara Shaheedganj (B-block), Amritsar.

SYP president Noblejit Singh, General Secretary Manjit Singh, and vice-president Paramjit Singh, noted that S. Kapur Singh was the architect of the Anandpur Sahib Resolution on which the Dharam Yudh Morcha was based. “He was revered as the think-tank of Sikh policy on public affairs during the 70’s and 80’s, was very close to Shaheed Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, and was behind the creation of Dal Khalsa in 1978.”
