AMRITSAR SAHIB—Former Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Puran Singh, and his son Ajai, have once again come into question after they thrashed another Sikh for land dispute. They, along with three gunmen, have been booked for an incident that took place over a land dispute in the colony of 1984 anti-Sikh pogrom victims earlier this week.

President of the 1984 anti-Sikhs Pogroms Sangharsh Committee, Kashmir Singh, alleged that Giani Puran Singh, and his associates, trespassed into the residential area of the colony. The former Jathedar had forcefully occupied an area of the colony land. In retaliation, some residents had started a hunger strike in protest. The Jathadar’s attack is being seen a way to stop the protest from reaching limelight.

It should be remember that Ajai was deported from British Columbia, Canada last year after a case of sexual assault.  Puran “Singh” was once appointed as Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib, however he has close ties with anti-Sikh Rashtriya Sikh Sangat.
