LUDHIANA, Punjab— Human rights advocacy group “People’s Movement Against UAPA” with the collaboration of Ludhiana based Lawyers, is organizing a seminar on the draconian Law of India at the Bar Room of district courts on March 01, 2014.  UAPA is the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act is or Sua Act is Indian law aimed at prevention of unlawful activities associations in India.

The theme of the seminar is “Act Now Against UAPA”.  Representative of the organization, and renowned human rights activist, Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur told Sikh24 that a number renowed speakers will be at the seminar.  Namely, Kamaal Faruqui (PMAUAPA), Prof. P. Koya (NCHRO), and Advocate Rajinder Singh Bains (PHRO), will be addressing the attendees at the seminar.

Advocate Manjhpur further added that “UAPA is the one of the most draconian laws of India that is used as tool of pressing political dissent by establishment. The law is a big threat to basic rights of the minorities in particular and should be repealed.”
