Darbar Sahib Attacks – A Historical Perspective

Darbar Sahib 1984Two huge Posters on a large wall in the Langar Hall at Ontario Khalsa Darbar Gurdwara Sahib, in Canada, reminds the visitors of  the brief History of invasions of Darbar Sahib by the aggressors launched by evil and cowardly rulers and invaders.

On the right side, the wall is full of names of the Sikh shaheeds who laid down their lives defending the Sikh faith,  along with a big list of evil Police and Army Officials who took part in the Torture, Killings, and Disappearances of thousands of Sikhs from 1984 to 1995. These crimes against Humanity were investigated and lists prepared by Shaheed Jaswant Singh Khalra, who presented these to the Canadian Government at that time.

On the left side the poster lists the information about dates of invasions by the evil aggressors given below: The date of Invasion is followed by The names of the aggressors, and then the name of the rectifier (sodhak), and date of rectification (sodh). Next is the number of days (  ) An aggressor lived to breathe after the invasion.
  1. 3 AUGUST,1740. MASSA RANGHARH; Sodhak Sukha Singh & Mehtaab Singh – 2 JANUARY,1741. (153 Days).
  2. 13 NOVEMBER,1746, YAHEYA KHAN ; Sodhak An unnamed Brave SINGH – 13 APRIL, 1747  (153 Days).
  3. 13 JANUARY, 1757,  JAHAN KHAN; Sodhak Bhai Daya Singh and Bhai Lehna Singh – 19 JUNE, 1757         (153 Days).
  4. 5 FEBRUARY, 1762, AHEMAD SHAH ABDALI ; In a skirmish with Sikhs a brick hit his head on 8 JULY,1762. (153 Days), and never fully recovered till his death in June,1830. He invaded Punjab eight times from 1747 to 1767. In 1818, One of  his servants (Kalandar Khan) also destroyed Darbar Sahib, but the Khalsa built it again.
  5. 1 JUNE,1984 INDIRA GANDHI; Sodhak: S. BEANT SINGH, S. SATWANT SINGH. – 31 October, 1984 (153 Days).
It’s not important that an aggressor lived six months or more after the attack, but they are already breathing with a dead zameer (consience) even before the attack on Darbar Sahib. People with a living conscience never even think of invading a sacred place like Darbar Sahib.
Note:
  1. It has been observed that different historians quite often gave different dates for certain ancient events, therefore, confirmation of old dates can be made by examining various history books of the eighteenth century.
  2. Rawan of Lanka a Brahman, abducted Sita wife of Rama, and Rama murdered Rawana just for abduction of his wife. On the Contrary Khalsa never SODH ( Reform) anyone for any personal losses. Only when Evil Crimes are done against Human Dignity, only then does the Khalsa use the sword.
