CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Punjab’s Chief minister Parkash Badal has expressed his disappointment on the news that before operation Blue Star, the British Government was asked for help.  He also showed deep disappointment by the fact that in the first investigation, Britain’s advisors had given warnings about changes made in the military and this warning was completely ignored by Prime Minister Indira Gandhis government.

Badal gave a statement here that the disclosure by the British government had proven that the commitments made by Congress leaders  to release Sri Harmandir Sahib from Sikh activists and the military action that had been taken was completely fake.  He said  “This is really shocking that Indira Gandhi took such an extreme step which was a religious,  emotional, and political issue and tried to solve it by involving the heads of subcontinents.

Chief Minister Parkash Badal’s role in 1984 Operation Bluestar has also been questioned in past.  Before the army invasion of Harmandir Sahib, Badal and other senior Akali Dal leaders had held several meetings with Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
