JALANDHAR—The cult leader and self styled profit named Ashutosh, based in Noormehal (District Jalandhar) died on Wednesday at the cult headquarters. The notorious man reportedly died of a heart attack. A cult spokesperson has denied the news with the claim that their “Maharaj” is in a long Samadhi, or trance state, that has triggered controversy over his death.
The official website of the cult has termed the reports of Ashutosh’s death as rumours and asked his followers around the world to beware of it as, “[Ashutosh] has entered Samadhi in Noormahal, Punjab, India. Request all to sit in Akhand Sadhana and pray to the supreme power. Beware of any negative rumours.”
The Noormahal cult notoriously mimics Sikh practices, but instead of worshiping Guru Granth Sahib, they have large framed pictures of Ashutosh displayed on golden thrones. They poke their eyes until they see stars as a form of worship.
The cult under the leadership of Ashotosh has been considered a threat to Punjab’s peace due to its entire practice which is blasphemous to Sikhs. Particularly, Ashutosh has misinterpreted Gurbani and misled Sikhs. Due to his provocative acts, Sikhs have been opposed to his cult and demanded a government ban on it. On numerous occasions, severe clashes have taken place between Sikhs and Noormahal cultists.
The government of Punjab led by Parkash Badal has provided security to cultists to enable them to hold their congregations and has taken a hard handed approach to Sikh protesters. A few years ago, when Sikhs were protesting against the cult’s congregation at Ludhiana, Badal Sena had dealt with them brutally and Bhai Charan Singh Lohara was martyred by Police bullets.

if Sikhs think their bravery lies in abusing their own and their Gurus’ motherland and demanding Khalistan then I pity their wisdom. In this country every community was targeted be it Hindus (In Punjab,Kashmir) , Muslims (Gujrat) , Sikhs (Delhi 1984) et al. So every community should demand a separate state ?
I fail to understand the psyche of extremist sikhs.They and their Akal Takht develop antipathy to anything in which their own brothers Hindus are involved. I am not an Ashutosh Maharaj’s follower but I have clearly observed after attending their Satsangs (with curiosity) that they did not do anything anti-Sikh rather they were propagating good things from all religions. No persons from Hindus,Muslims or Christians raised any issues only extremists sikhs got worked up. Again I do not follow any body.

The best test to confirm whether is dead or gone in long samadhi, not to put ice blocks around his (dead) body, if it emits bad smell after 24 hours then he is dead, if not then he is ok and gone in long samadhi, and people around him should allowed to lick his feet.
