ANANDPUR SAHIB—The Punjab government has decided to display the belongings of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji at Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib. Responsible for cultural decisions in the area, the historical department have decided this on the basis of orders issued by Punjab and Haryana High Court.

The High Court had ordered the historical department to keep historical items available for public view at an appropriate place. The Department’s chief secretary S.S.Channi has abided by the court’s orders.

These historical items, which are considered to be Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s, are currently housed in Patiala, at Burj Baba Alla Singh.

According to sources,It has been decided to keep them at Sri Keshgarh Sahib because Guru Ji’s Shastars (types of swords used in wars) are also there.

The department has said that the belongings will be kept with the same respect as the shastars that are already there. This process will start in a few days. The belongings include Chola (Clothes), which Guru Ji gave to Baba Triloka, Guru ji’s writings which Nabha’s Raja Bharpur Singh won from Bhai Tara Singh at the cost of one thousand rupees annually.

After Bhangani’s war,  because of Sadhora’s Pir Budhu Shah’s loyality, Guru Ji out of happiness gave him a kanga (comb) and dastar (turban) which was given with respect to Baba Triloka and three talwars (swords), out of which one was gifted to Baba Triloka at Takht Sri damdama Sahib, one bought from Nabha’s Raja Jaswant Singh and gifted to Rai Kalan and the other,  brought by Nabha’s maharaja Heera Singh.

Before decorating the belongings of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji at Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib, the government have decided to hold a ‘PUNJAB DARSHAN’ programme , according to which, the belongings of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji will be taken around Punjab for viewing.

‘PUNJAB DARSHAN’ is also looked upon as politically influenced, because doing this, Hukmaran party can be benefited. Although, some of Guru Ji’s belongings are also placed at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, important items will be displayed at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib for public viewing.

These items were locked away in a box for many years. This government decision will not only help the public be exposed to historical items, but will also ensure that they are taken care of.
