:dateline:In protest against the alleged involvement of the United Kingdom (UK) in the attack on Sri Darbar Sahib in Sri Amritsar Sahib, US based Sikh advocacy group Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) and All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF) led by Bhai Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad held a demonstration outside the British High Commission.
During the protest, a memorandum was submitted to British High Commissioner James David Bewan by representatives of both the organizations, in which it was demanded that a resolution should be passed in British parliament that aid given by the then prime minister of UK to attack the holiest Sikh shrine was fully illegitimate.
The memorandum also asked the present UK government to take responsibility for the act on its own shoulders and condemn it.
Bhai Peer Mohammad said that with the help of Sikh soldiers, Britain ruled all over the world for a century and Sikhs in the thousands sacrificed their lives for that country. But Thatcher, the then PM of UK, awarded the Sikh loyalty by giving aid to an operation to invade Sri Darbar Sahib.
The then British government is equally accused of committing a sin with Indra Gandhi, the then PM of India, he added.
