Bhai Lal Singh May Need to Surrender if Parole Not Extended

:dateline:As per a press statement by the Sikh Organization for Prisoner Welfare, the Supreme Court has set March 4, 2014 as the final hearing for Bhai Lal Singh�s appeal for a full discharge. �Bhai Lal Singh was earlier released on parole last month.

Bhai Lal Singh has served over 20 years in prison. �Although he has been released on parole in the past, he was released earlier last year after efforts by Bhai Gurbaksh Singh who went on a 44 day long hunger strike.

Along with Bhai Lal Singh, Bhai Gurbaksh Singh sought the release of 5 other Sikhs. �Bhai Lal Singh�s parole from Nabha Jail is due to end on February 1, 2014. �As per SOPW, “If no further extension is granted, then Bhai Lal Singh will have to surrender himself and return to Nabha Jail.”
