Rajasthan Sikhs Express Fury at SGPC

:dateline:While expressing fury over SGPC President Avtar Makkar, Sikhs in Rajasthan have asked him to consider why Akal Takhat Sahib hukamnamas were not being followed by the Sikh Community Worldwide. In a press note, ad-hoc committee of Rajasthan Gurdwaras expressed that many hukamnamas issued from Akal Takhat Sahib were issued under political pressure and the SGPC had done nothing to implement them.

Hardeep Singh Dib Dibba, a Rajasthan based Sikh, stated that hukamnamas which are not enforced hold no value. He said due to internal issues, SGPC has lost power in enforcing Akal Takhat Sahib hukamnamas. Hardeep Singh alleged that Rajasthan Sikhs are dedicated to Sri Akal Takhat Sahib however the SGPC needs to answer why the Supreme Sikh authority has lost influence in the past decade.

Taking about recently issued hukamnamas to help the Rajasthan Sikhs, Hardeep Singh further stated that SGPC has purposely ignored Akal Takhat Sahib’s mandates. He alleged that SGPC has not taken any step towards improving the affairs of Sri Ganganagars Khalsa College as required by the Akal Takhat.

The SGPC has from past decades continued to ignore the affairs of Sikhs in Rajasthan. At the same time, the Punjab based Gurdwara Committee is also not allowing Rajasthan Sikhs to form a legal organization to oversee their internal matters.
