Bhai Gurmeet Singh Released; Jathedars hold Closed Door Meeting with Bhai Gurbaksh Singh

:dateline:A closed door meeting is currently being held between Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa and Takhat Sahib Jathedars. The Jathedars are pressing Bhai Gurbaksh Singh to end his fast, however Bhai Gurbaksh Singh is steadfast with his demands. �He has requested concrete guarantee from Singh Sahibs that all Singhs will be released in a timely manner.

Release of three Sikh political prisoners Bhai Gurmeet Singh, Bhai Lakhwinder Singh and Bhai Shamsher Singh Shera who are detained in Burail jail, has been delayed for two days due to tardiness of union territory administration of Chandigarh. �The�Punjab government had to take action to ensure the release of the Sikhs and it has pursued the legal formalities for their release on parole.

Meanwhile, a hukamnama (edict) was issued yesterday ordering Bhai Gurbaksh Singh to end his fast. �A�copy of the hukamnama was delivered to Gurudwara Amb Sahib via fax; however, Bhai Gurbaksh Singh consulted with Sikh Sangat and announced that until or unless Singh Sahiban took guarantee about the release of the 5 Sikhs, he would not end his fast.

In addition, seeing a delay in release of Burail Jail Singhs, Takhat Jathedars, Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa and a large number of Sikh Sangat reached Burail jail in form of a march. �Situation got tense when police in large number arrived there to stop the march of Sikh Sangat from entering in the boundary of Chandigarh as Section 144 was implemented.

Chandigarh police deployed its special anti riots squad empowered with shells of tear gas and water cannons. �After seeing fury of Sikh Sangat, concerned officer Balbir Singh PCS agreed to allow them to sit down peacefully outside the Jail.

Sikh sangat began to utter Satnam-Waheguru outside the Jail and afterward, leaders of Bandi Sikh Rihai Committee led by Bhai Gurbakhash Singh, and legal experts negotiated with Jail high officials on this matter. �Officers told them that related formalities were yet to be completed from the side of all three Sikh detainees.

�Papers of Gurmeet Singh have been completed but that of others have not�, said Balbir Singh PCS.

Meanwhile, representatives of Sant Samaj Baba Sukhwinder Singh Ratwara Sahib and Bhai Gurpreet Singh who is also a member of SGPC, filled bond of parole on behalf of Gurmeet Singh and Jail department has said that Gurmeet Singh would be released tomorrow whereas release of Shamsher singh Shera and Lakhwinder Singh Lakha is likely to happen on December 26.

After returning to Gurdwara Amb Sahib, Bhai Gurbaksh Singh’s health again deteriorated and he got admitted at Fortis Hospital immediately. After a brief treatment, he returned to Gurudwara Amb Sahib, where he was provided a heater equipped room.

As per sources, Punjab government has constituted a special team of doctors of Fortis Hospital for taking care Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa and deployed a special team of police led by DSP Ajinder Singh to oversee any circumstances.
