:dateline:Hundreds of Sikhs led by noted Sikh preacher and head Panthik Sewa Lehar, Baba Baljit Singh Daduwal on Monday left for Gurudwara Gyan Godri Sahib (Uttrakhand) to mark Parkash Gurpurab after performing Ardas at Sri Akal Takhat Sahib here.
It is notable that Gurudwara Gyan Godri Sahib, the holy Sikh shrine situated at Har Ki Pauri Haridwar (Uttrakhand), related with the Third Udasi (mission) of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji, was totally destroyed by Hindu terrorists in 1984 and the state government captured the holy place and constructed shops and public toilets.
While briefing the press, Baba Baljit Singh said, Since 1984, the sacred Sikh shrine constructed centuries ago, is being disrespected by building toilets and used for other purposes, and Panthik Sewa Lehar has been struggling to reconstruct the shrine and to stop its disrespect right from 2011.
Sikhs demanded from the then BJP government of Uttrakhand in 2011 to allow the community to reconstruct the Gurudwara Sahib on original place but the demand was not met. Then Sikhs held protest outside the head office of BJP at New Delhi, but the protest did not bear fruit as BJP did not take the demand seriously.
“After that, at Dehradoon, the capital of Uttrakhand, ‘Gyan Godri freedom conference’ was organized which was participated in by thousands and memorandum was submit to Margrat Alwa , Governer of the state who promised to resolve the issue.
“Besides, our organization also wrote to Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Gurbachan Singh, SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar, Paramjit Singh Sarna, the then Chief of Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Managemnet committee, so that reconstruction of Gurudwara could be ensured. But despite running such big campaign, Parkash Badal, ironically, has expressed unawareness on the issue, he added.
Lashing out at Badal, he further said, Badal took no action in this regard. This shows that he is not serious to take up the issue which is concerned with the Sikhs around the world.”
