The Letters I Never Sent: You’re beautiful

singhnee

Dear ________,

You’re beautiful. No, I’m not talking about your face or your body. That’s all temporary. God knows how many different bodies we’ve worn over the ages. But it has taken that many lives for us to get here, right? It’s safe to assume that our souls have spiritually progressed. Give yourself some credit. And then realize that your work is not done. You will continue to grow.

You’ve chosen this path and accepted that you will forever be learning. You are a Sikh. You are the daughter of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Face each obstacle, each fear, each challenge, with a smile. So what if you mess up? So freakin’ what? Is that not a part of learning? Who says you gotta be perfect? Anyway, I hope this little rant serves as the push you needed to take your stand.

Attraction is a natural thing, and nothing to be afraid of. You will be attracted to others and people will be attracted to you.

Duh.

Better accept it now before it becomes a serious problem later.

But if this guy doesn’t get the point, after you’ve obviously made yourself clear the first time, then you need to do something different this time. Talk to him one last time. Stop talking to him at all. Send him telepathic messages. Kidding. But seriously lady, I don’t wanna tell you that you have to do this or that. You’re on your way to becoming such a wonderful, strong, independent Kaur. Even you realized that it didn’t feel right when he said that. It made you uncomfortable. Red flag right there buddy.

Okay, still having trouble deciding what to do? Relax.

This has helped me in the past so I’ll share it with you real quick. Usually when we have a hard time making sense of things or taking a decision or whatever – our mind and soul are pulling us in different directions. Take some time and figure out which thoughts are coming from your mind, and which are coming from your soul. Mind and soul. Mann and Aatmaa. Our Aatma is part of Parmaatmaa. Listen to what your Aatmaa has to say, it will never lead you astray.

You’re a sweetheart. Don’t worry about a thing. You’ve got this. Take things as they come. And at the end of the day, remember that everything that happened was Guru’s Hukam. Everything that will ever happen is Guru’s Hukam. Anyway that’s that. Just want to leave you with this line from Jap Ji Sahib. Write me back. Tell me about your family. And school. Random thought – by the way, teach me a shabad some time And talk about just anything and everything. I wanna hear it all. I hope you have a spectacular day, sister.

Smile always,

Your friend.

“The Letters I Never Sent” is a column about things the author has actually wanted to say to certain people but in letter form. She has never actually ‘sent’ them.
