NEW DELHI—As per a statement by Manjit Singh GK,  “a criminal contempt has been filed in the Delhi High Court alleging that Jathedar Akal Takht Sahib has committed criminal contempt of court by forcing Paramjit Singh Sarna to withdraw his writ petition filed in Delhi High Court against 1984 Carnage Memorial and thereby Jathedar Akal Takht Sahib has interfered in the administration of Justice. The Petition alleges that this act of Jathedar Akal Takht Sahib amounts to criminal contempt.”

Manjit Singh GK who recently received flak from UK sangat for speaking out against Khalistan alleged that “it is shocking and surprising that the lawyer of Delhi Government (Standing Council, Criminal) gave his approval to file this contempt petition. This contempt petition came up for hearing on 8th October 2013, before the Hon’ble High Court, bench of Hon’ble Justice Kailash Gambhir and Justice Indermeet Kaur. After hearing detailed arguments, the court did not even issue notice on the contempt petition, however the counsel for the petitioner managed to obtain an adjournment for 23rd October 2013.”

GK alleged that it is probably the first time that a petition of this type has been filed against a Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.  It should be noted that the Rozana Spokesman Editor had filed a lawsuit against Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti and tried to force him to attend summons in court.

Paramjit Sarna had filed a petition asking the Delhi Court to intervene and stop the construction of the Sikh Genocide Memorial at Gurdwara Rakabganj Sahib.  He later withdrew the petition after facing pressure from Akal Takht Sahib and the Sikh community in New Delhi.  It has been learnt that Sarna has now indirectly filed the latest petition through a close associate.
