:dateline:A Sikh Gurdwara came under violent attack in Bijmour in Andhra Pradesh�where a mob entered the shrine and beat up volunteers,�causing damage to the Sikh holy scriptures Guru Granth Sahib during�the ongoing anti-Tenalgana protests. The Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak�Committee today condemned the incident in strong words and demanded�protection and safety for Sikh shrines in Andhra Pardesh.
The mob attacked the Gurdwara Sahib and set the Gurudwara on fire causing major damage. All glass windows and furniture have been destroyed in the fire that was set by the mob. The caretakers of the Gurudwara were beaten badly and received injuries. It is being reported that rising tensions relating of the Indian Government’s approval to form a new state of Telengana has resulted in widespread disorder in the region.
According to witnesses at the scene, the attack appeared to have been thoroughly planned.
DSGMC member Paramjeet Singh Rana contacted police from Delhi following which the Viskhapatnam DCP sent a Police contingent to safeguard the Gurdwara Sahib. It has been reported that a rumala sahib was burnt and the Granthi Singh, Bhai Jasveer Singh managed to save the Saroop of Guru Granth Sahib Ji, although witnesses are saying it did receive minor damage. The cause of the attack has not yet been determined.Total damage has not yet been assessed but the Police have reportedly controlled the situation now after DSGMC officials contacted the state Government asking for immediate response of police.
SGPC Chief Avtar Makkar said in a statement issued here that religious places are sacred and protestors should understand their�sanctity.Makkar said the Indian government should also intervene into the�matter and Sikhs’ shrines and community members must be protected by�enforcing the law and order situation there. He said SGPC officials�were keeping in touch with those who were in the management and they�had confirmed that the miscreants attacked the gurdwara building and�tried to put it on fire and the people who resisted were beaten badly.
The attack started 4pm on 5 October 2013 and police reportedly arrived at 11pm.
Makkar said, “The cause of the attack is not yet known. A person close to the Gurdwara Sahib has said he was hiding in a small room while the Gurdwara Sahib was being ransacked by a mob. The total damage has not yet been assessed, but police have controlled the situation now.”
Some media reports are saying that 2 saroops of Guru Granth Sahib were burned, but Sikh24 is awaiting confirmation. Hundreds of Sikhs showed up within a few hours to protest the desecration and demand action.

We had been suffering for long time as have no dedicated organization base to operate and perform for centuries as Master Tara Singh, Sant Fateh Singh, Harchand Singh, Gurcharan Singh, Avtar Singh and Gurbachan Singh�s actions proved to be THUGS not the SIKH RELIGION LEADERS that I have studied, learnt and practiced.
