LONDON, UK—A Sikh Bus Driver in Finland, Sukhdarshan Singh Gill, who was struggling to wear his dastar at work, has won a landmark victory against his employer.

Veolia Transport of Vantaa Transport Company has agreed to allow  Sukhdarshan Singh to wear a turban at work from Sunday, September 29th. The Southern Finland Regional State Administrative Agency ruled in June that a turban ban by the employer was discriminatory and gave the bus company until the end of September to redress the matter.

“This is  a great victory of Sikhs  abroad without any contributions of Sikh Organizations in this case”, said Satnam Singh Chahal, Executive Director of North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) in a press release issued today.
