UPDATE: 22/9/2013 18:45 GMT Reports are coming in that as many as 5 Sikhs were killed by the Terrorists and many more injured including Satpal Singh, quoted in our article, and Pavraj Singh’s cousin.

Sikhs from Kenya have asked for all Sikhs worldwide to do simran for the large number of fatalities in this weekends terrorist attack which is still ongoing.

NAIROBI, KENYA—A Sikh youth named Pavraj ‘Pablo’ Singh Ghataurhae has been reported as one of the victims killed by al Qaeda linked Somalian terrorist group al-Shabab during their attack on Westgate Mall in Nairobi Kenya today.

Armed gunmen faced off with Kenyan police and soldiers inside an upscale Nairobi shopping mall early Sunday, hours after brazenly gunning down shoppers, diners and more. On Saturday afternoon, the terrorists had freed all Muslims and began killing the non-Muslims present.

Satpal Singh, 36, another Sikh who was in a cafe on the mall’s top floor, said he ran downstairs when he heard the gunfire and was shot at near the mall’s main exit.

“A Somali guy shot at me. The guy who shot me was carrying a rifle, an AK-47.”

39 people, including Pavraj Singh, women, and other children were declared dead while another 293 people were injured.

Shocked people could be seen running away from the Westgate centre clutching children, while others crawled along walls to avoid bullets. “The gunmen tried to fire at my head but missed. At least 50 people were shot. There are definitely many casualties,” mall employee Sudjar Singh said.

“I saw a young boy carried out on a shopping cart, it looked like he was about five or six. It looked like he was already dead, he was not moving or making any noise.”

Vehicles riddled with bullet holes were left abandoned in front of the mall as police instructed local residents to stay away.

  1. I am shocked today to realize that Pavraj was among the people short dead at west-gate tragedy. I had just registered this boy at KNEC as a private candidate to undertake EDEXCEL January 2014 exams. KNEC fraternity is so sorry for the loss of this young man and we say pole sana to the family of the bereaved. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

  2. Found some more info:

“When the gun storm started, Pavraj refused to leave his grandmother’s side, even as his friends and family members shouted at him to do so.

He will be remembered for his courage and loyalty to family even in death.

‘He got a bullet in his stomach but he was trying to save his grandmother who could not run. All his cousins and friends kept shouting at him to run but Pavraj refused and stayed with his grand mom. Both of them are no more,’ explained Saxena.”

  5. I am lost for words on the horrific killings for their terrorists beliefs.
It has happened in history before , even during the time of Guru Nanak where He describes their brutality and their eventual downfall

  6. Can u take this picture of this very minute, you are disrespecting the deceased and there by putting pictures of them in that state. Have some sharm, You shouldn’t parade these pictures you should Pray for there souls to rest in peace. Can you please delete it NOW

    • I agree totally. As a Christian I feel deeply for all those who have been killed by the terrorists who were in the Mall in Kenya. Religion is not about killing, it is about God. Please remove the pictures, we don’t need to see these to understand the atrocious acts. It is just distressing for their families. RIP

  7. This is a real tragedy and another reminder of the dangers of mindless religious fundamentalism and fanaticism. Anybody who professes to follow a belief system that denies the humanity of another human being canNOT a be deemed to be religious. These people and many others like them that claim the authority of God are simple murderous fascists and Muslims of all people need to disown them publicly, privately and institutionally. As well as this horrific event, almost at the same time we have seen a least 78 people killed in a suicide bomb attack at the All Saints Church in the Peshawar, Pakistan on Sunday. Insensitive reporting and the internet is likely to fuel hatred between different religious communities which we must confront at all cost. As a Sikh who believes passionately that Islam is a religion of peace I would like to publicly declare my solidarity with my Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish and Humanist brothers and sisters. Today there are only to real religions in the world, one that incites intolerance and hatred and one that teaches compassion, justice, co-operation and serving. We ALL – and I include believers and secularists – have to decide which of these faiths we belong to, its as simple as that!

  8. Oh Fellow Brother, I have neve rmet you-but your sikhi joined us in faith.May waheguru baksh his blessing upon you and all humanity that suffered in this.Condolences to not only the family but the Sikh familes involved in this tragedy.Oh waheguru.
