:dateline:A three day annual convention was organized in Wolverhampton for the 10th year anniversary of the Sikh Federation UK.� Sikhs numbering more than 10,000 from all over UK and other parts of Europe took part in the convention.� The convention commenced with the reading of Akhand Path Sahib and included various speakers, along with kirtani and dhadhi jathas on the final day.
Various Panthik issues were deliberated upon at the conference.� Amongst the highlight was discussion on the census as many British Sikhs expressed dissatisfaction over it.
Over the past few years, the Sikh Federation has been a major Sikh party in the UK which is in contact with all three main political parties in the UK.� The Sikh Federation UK, although a non-Government party in the UK, is a political stronghold of the Sikhs.� It played a major role in campaigning for the release of Prof. Davinderpal Singh Bhullar and other Sikh political prisoners in the past few years.
It was announced that the Sikh Federation has more than 600 member organisations and is expected to reach over 1,000 within 12 months–Sikh24 was recently invited to join. �The Sikh Federation UK was established in September 2003 with the aim of giving Sikhs a stronger political voice by taking an increasing interest in mainstream politics in the UK.
Not even 2500 when you count local regular Sangat . Only two coaches were seen. As usual Sikh Federation exaggerate . After 29 years they have failed . They are at an all time low. Only policy is to use force and control gurudwara’s like Smethwick.
Great work Sikh24 does but please do not over-exaggerate numbers. The turnout was a lot less than even half that number of 10,000.
