Sikh Man Arrested for Chandigarh Hospital Sign Graffiti

:dateline:A Sikh named Baljit Singh Khalsa has been booked by the Chandigarh Police for vandalising the signs of PGI Hospital in Chandigarh. This is not the first time Baljit Singh has committed such an act in Chandigarh. As per a statement by Baljit Singh, Chandigarh is jointly the capital of both Punjab and Haryana, but various sign boards across the UT city are labeled in Hindi and English only.

In the past, Baljit Singh has filed various pleas with the Punjab Government asking them to seek equal status for the Punjabi language. Despite such appeals and being arrested, the Punjab Government has failed to provide justice to Baljit Singh and the rest of Punjab.

While speaking with media after the incident, Baljit Singh openly said that the Punjabis are slaves in India. He asked the Government why English signs are displayed throughout Chandigarh instead of Punjabi? He held that signs in both Hindi and Punjabi should be displayed along with English. He stated that the Government is being deaf to the sentiments of the Punjabi people.
