Domes Installed at Oak Creek Gurdwara

OAK CREEK, Wisconsin, USA—Seven domes were being installed on the roof of the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin in Oak Creek on Wednesday, fulfilling a dream of temple president Satwant Singh Kaleka, who was among six Sikhs killed in a deadly rampage there last August.

The Kaleka family helped acquire the domes, which traditionally adorn Sikh temples, or Gurdwaras, with donations it received in the aftermath of the shootings by white supremacist Wade Michael Page.

Kaleka’s son, Amardeep, said six of the domes honor each of those murdered at the temple on Aug. 5, 2012. The seventh dome represents those wounded and the loss to the broader community, he said.
