:dateline:Sardar Aasa Singh (former member Akali Dal Amritsar) who is serving his sentence in jail was mysteriously�attacked and faces serious injuries.
According to the statement by his son Ajaib Singh, his father woke up at night to visit the bathroom when he was provoked by other inmates who started beating him resulting in serious injuries. He stated that a similar incident had occurred in the cell two months ago.
Meanwhile the Jail Superintendent has denied any such thing happening in the jail and said that 94 year old Aasa Singh has been hospitalized due to health problems encountered at his older age.
Akali Dal Amritsar members Avtar Singh Khakh and Gurnam Singh suspect that the attacks were conducted under a well planned conspiracy.
The hearing of S. Aasa Singh’s Case was scheduled on 9 july. Notably the court had exempted the hearing of his case for 8 years keeping in mind his ill health. �However, this past year on 20 November he was sentenced to imprisonment for 10 years. �S. Aasa Singh was alleged to be involved�in a bank robbery case of Punjab National Bank in 1987. He is admitted to the Civil Hospital where he is undergoing treatment.
