:dateline:The appointed Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Gurbachan Singh appreciated the efforts made by the head of Jawaddi Taksal, Baba Ameer Singh in preserving the tradition of performing kirtan based on original ragas and tunes.
” Today the kirtan is being performed on derivative tunes which is not acceptable as it does not �unite the soul with Almighty which �is the basic purpose for doing kirtan, instead the mind wanders off �itself in the tunes only,” he said. Giani Gurbachan Singh was present to address the gathering at Gurudwara Gian Parkash where a 3 day workshop was held promoting Gurmat Sangeet.
He applauded the efforts of Jawaddi Taksal towards promoting Gurmat principles and Gurmat sangeet.
On the last day of the workshop, a Jugal bandi of Gurmat musical instruments was presented by Bhai Sreepal Singh, Bhai Mahaveer Singh and Bhai AnikBaar Singh with Pandit Rmakant. The students were made aware of Raag Gauri and Raag Kalyan by Prof Sukhwant Singh Jawaddi and Prof Sharandeep Kaur.
