Akal Takhat Meeting Focuses on Sarna’s Summons and Gurbani Sacrilege

akal takhat sahib:dateline:In a much anticipated meeting of the 5 Singh Sahibs at Akal Takht Sahib, Paramjit Sarna has been summoned at a future date to hear his side for opposing the building of a 1984 Memorial in Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib in Delhi. Sarna’s filing of a petition in the Delhi High Court against the memorial had roused strong disapproval by the Sikh community. The joint decision was taken by the Sikh high clergies including Giani Gurbachan Singh, Giani Balwant Singh, Giani Tarlochan Singh, Giani Iqbal Singh and Giani JotInder Singh.

Extension for Paramjit Sarna

In a detailed press conference, Giani Gurbachan Singh stated that in a written letter submitted to them by S. Bhajan Singh Walia (Secretary General Akali Dal Delhi), Paramjit Sarna has requested more time as well as stated his inability to attend the meeting due to prior engagements. He clarified his position in the letter saying that he was only against the construction of the yadgaar within the gurudwara complex as it would affect the sanctity of the place. Whereas the members of the Delhi Committee, Avtar Hitt and Kuldeep Bhogal have �expressed their displeasure against Sarna’s action and blamed him for working under the anti-Sikh Congress Government. Using strong words against him they said that he should be dismissed from the panth for performing anti-panthik activities.

Gurbani Sacrilege by Neeru Bajwa and Others

neeru-bajwaOn the recent issue of Punjabi actress Neeru Bajwa getting Gurbani tattooed on her forearm, Giani Gurbachan Singh informed that for now her written apology letter has been given consideration by the Panth, but in the future no such acts will be tolerated.

On being asked about the issue of arising �differences in printing gurbani in Gutka Sahibs by different organizations, he informed that they would soon be removed to ensure the homogeneity and originality of Gurbani.

Recently there have been delays for Pilgrims travelling to Sri Hemkunt Sahib. “The authorities as well as the army forces are working in collaboration to remove the hindrances encountered by the pilgrims on the way to Hemkunt Sahib due to heavy rain falls,” said the Akal Takht appointed Jathedar. He has also appealed to the devotees to help �each other. He has requested that pilgrims delay the yatra for a short while until weather conditions become stable.

On being asked about the naming of the Shaheedi yadgar in Darbar Sahib Complex, he said that the decision has been reserved for now.
