:dateline:Expressing safety concerns, �Giani Raam Singh (Head Damdami Taksal Sangrawa) �alleged that his family members have been receiving repeated death threats by phone, creating chaos in his family life. �Giani Raam Singh is leader of one of the factions of Damdami Taksal, a Panthik organisation that once fostered leaders like Sant Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindrawale.
Giani Raam Singh alleged that while he was away from home attending a Gurmat Smagam, his daughter in Canada received a phone call stating that Giani Raam Singh had been shot and admitted to a hospital under critical condition. �Shocked over this information she contacted the relatives in India who were equally appalled by the news. �The situation was only diffused when Giani Raam singh informed of his well being on the phone to his relatives.
Earlier Giani Raam Singh was on a foreign visit �and came back upon the request of Avtar Singh Makkar (SGPC President) to solve the ongoing row between Damdami Taksal and SGPC over the Operation Blue Star Memorial. �He had called a meeting of Shabad Guru Parchar Sant Samaj regarding the same issue where he stated that the memorial is incomplete and proposed that some changes should be brought into it.
His family has been receiving repeated death threats since the meeting.
Although Giani Raam Singh’s statement is shocking, Panthik organisations have asked him to take a strong stand without worrying about death threats. �His role is eminent in resolving the on-going 1984 Shaheedi Yadgar issue.
