Punjab DGP Unsuccessful at Stopping Violence During Panchyat Elections

:dateline:This past week, Punjabis saw the Punjab Police fail at controlling the clashes that erupted within the Akalis and the Congress members. �Punjab DGP, Sumedh Saini, who is supported by the ruling parties, failed totally in his job as the clashes during elections became violent.

Clashes between Congress and the Akali Dal workers were reported in different parts of Punjab. �Much violence was noticed especially in Batala and Ferozepur. �According to sources, the Akali Dal workers blamed the Congress party for booth capturing. �Congress on the other side blamed Akali workers for administering false votes as well as for torching their vehicles which caused �a dispute among the two groups.

While the incidents from the voting expose fraud by both parties, in particular lack of administration remained a concern. �The Punjab Police failed entirely in handling the situation in a timely manner.

While Saini is supported by the Akali Government, he is responsible for mass murders of Sikhs in Punjab. �His appointment in Punjab has long been questioned by Panthik parties, however Parkash and Sukhbir Badal have continued to shield him despite his tainted past and�incompetence.
