Sikh Sangat Infuriated by Forceful Takeover of Kirtan Institute for the Blind in Anandpur Sahib

:dateline:Members of various Sikh organizations from India and abroad, criticized the unlawful take over of the ‘Netarheen Sangeet Vidalya’ (Music Institute for Blind) in Anandpur Sahib. With the death of Baba Darshan Singh (previous head), a group under the leadership of Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma has taken control of the Institute. Namely, one Baba Hardeep Singh, a close associate of Baba Dhumma and Amarjit Chawla (SGPC) have blamed each other for the forceful takeover.

Bhai Gurmej Singh Ji, Hazoori Ragi

A memorandum had been submitted in relation to the case to Giani Gurbachan Singh, Parkash Badal and Avtar Makkar , but dissatisfied over the response, some sangat has decided to launch a fresh protest in Chandigarh against Baba Harnaam Singh Dhumma. This decision was taken in a meeting conducted recently at Bhai Gurmej Singh Ji’s residence (Former Hazoori Ragi at Darbar Sahib) which was attended by prominent Sikh personalities. A unified decision was made by all the members present to pressure the Government of Punjab for the liberation of the Institute.

Bhai Gurmej Singh said that soon they would organize a meeting with PM Manmohan Singh and protests would be held in Punjab and other states demanding the release of the Institute.

Likewise, Sikh organizations in Koln, Germany have expressed similar views–Resham Singh Babbar (Head of Babbar Khalsa Germany) has stated that the incident is a shameful act for the Sikhs. He said that Sikh organizations should work together for the propagation of Sikhi rather then getting involved in such immoral acts.

He has appealed for all Sikh Organizations to come forward for the liberation of the Blind Institute from illegal control.

The row started when a group under the leadership of Baba Hardeep Singh forced out at least 100 blind students from the Kirtan Institute and took over control. The institute is located across the railway station in Anandpur Sahib and the land is worth millions.

As per a statement by Baba Hardeep Singh, the land belongs to Baba Mohan Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindrawale, a respectful personality of the Khalsa Panth. He alleged that after the passing away of Baba Darshan Singh, Baba Mohan Singh Ji delegated the control of the institute to him. He blamed Amarjit Chawla, member of the SGPC and Sikh Student Federation (Mehta Chawla) for launching a deadly attack on him. Chawla is one of the trustee members of the institute. The trust had given the control of the institute to Bhai Gurmej Singh, as opposed to what is being claimed by Baba Hardeep Singh.
