Protests & Hunger Strikes Continue to Oppose Court’s Unjust Decision to Acquit Sajjan Kumar

Kajriwal seen with Bibi Nirpreet Kaur and others in a hunger strike against Sajjan Kumar

—Expressing disappointment over Sajjan Kumar’s acquittal by the court, protests continued on the fourth consecutive day in parts of Delhi, Kolkatta, Jaipur, Bhopal, Hyderabad and Punjab.  These protests have been attended by Sikhs and others in large number, leading to a major trouble for local and State Governments.

Nirpreet Kaur is a key eye witness against Sajjan Kumar. She has held a hunger strike against Kumar’s acquittal by the court.

As a key witness of the case, Bibi Nirpreet Kaur has taken the decision to sit on a hunger strike in Jantar Mantar (Delhi) for an unlimited time period. Her decision is supported by Arvind Kejriwal, a Indian politician (AAP) and social activist, who addressed the public saying that the acquittal of Sajjan Kumar is an injustice to Sikhs and huge set back for Indian democracy.  He sympathized with the victims who have been suffering for the last 29 years and expressed his party’s full support in the fight for justice.

As a representative of SAD, Bibi Mandeep Kaur Bakshi alleged that senior Congress leader Rajiv Gandhi had given permission to Delhi Police to attack Sikhs during 1984.  Journalist Jarnail Singh said that the Congress government is trying to save the culprits instead of punishing them.

It should be noted that Sajjan Kumar had tried to bribe Nirpreet Kaur to not appear as a witness against him.

Nirpreet was 16 years old when when the mob killed her father Nirmal Singh and set ablaze a Gurdwara next to their house in Raj Nagar.  She recalled 450 blood thirsty mobs wanting to kill more Sikhs.

  1. It was very sad to see justice getting killed again and again.
Nice to see Arvind Kejriwal and AAP supporting protests. Hoping that AAP party comes to power and fight for justice for common man.
