Sikh Leaders Demand Strict Action Against Sacha Sauda Cultists

—Following the rampage by thousands of Sacha Sauda cult followers this past week, Sikh organisations held a meeting at Gurdwara Chilia Sahib.  It was attended by various prominent Sikh leaders, including Jathedar Giani Balwant Singh Nandgarh.  The meeting pressed for strict action and criminal charges against Sacha Sauda cult followers for attacking Sikhs and causing damage to their property and vehicles.

Giani Balwant Singh Nandgarh held that the Sri Akal Takht Sahib, being the supreme Sikh body should play a key role in ensuring justice is delivered.  He blamed the local administration and police for allowing this attack to take place.  He said that the attack seemed pre-planned as large numbers of cult followers were heavily armed at time the incident took place.  Sikh Sangat passed a resolution demanding resignation or transfer of Sirsa SP Rajshri Singh.

Although Sirsa is said to have calmed down after the attack and curfew has been lifted, tensions still seem prevent as the attackers of Sikhs are allowed to roam free.  Schools and some other businesses are still closed in and around the town.

Jathedar Nandgarh with Baba Gurmeet Singh Tilokewala, who were severely injured during the attack by Sacha Sauda followers

Yesterday, Jathedar Nandgarh had paid a visit to Baba Gurmeet Singh Tilokewala, SGPC member, who was left severely injured during the attack by Sacha Sauda mobs.  After meeting Baba Gurmeet Singh, Jathedar Nandgarh, along with Bhai Sukhwinder Singh Khalsa of Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Sabha also spoke and pressed for criminal charges against Gurmeet Ram Rahim, the leader of Sacha Sauda cult.

Ram Rahim’s Continuous Hypocrisy

Foreseeing growing criticism from Sikh leadership, along with Government officials for havoc caused by Sacha Sauda followers, Gurmeet Ram Rahim also held a press conference at his dera.  It was claimed by the cult leader that he did not support any kind of violence against any community.  He alleged that his followers included a large number of Sikhs.

A large numbers of cult followers had gathered at Sirsa to celebrate birth anniversary of former Sacha Sauda leader Shah Mastana.  It is believed that the cult followers attacked Sikhs to undermine Gurpurab Celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
