Deputy Lord Mayor Chaz Singh � Remembrance Day Turban

:dateline:Plymouth Deputy Lord Mayor Chaz Singh stopped people in their tracks today (Sunday November 11th 2012) at the Remembrance Service on Plymouth Hoe.

Chaz wore a custom made turban with an array of poppies on one side which highlighted the mainly black turban. Chaz was with his wife Sarah Kaur, Deputy Lady Mayoress of Plymouth.

Chaz said �as a Royal British Legion member it is only befitting that I wore this design, it�s also important to recognise the contribution made by the Sikhs and the Commonwealth soldiers for past and present conflicts�

Son Karan � Jeet Singh spoke a few words of Remembrance �to the crowds of people estimated at 10,000 by Plymouth City Council

Karan-Jeet �said �speaking today made me feel proud as a Sikh in Plymouth and a member of 197 Squadron Air Training Corps�

Many of the dignitaries congratulated Karan-Jeet on speaking so well.

  1. Young sikhs who are ashamed of wearing TURBAN and Beard should find courage to see above.

    SIKH are not HINDU OR MUSLIM OR CHRISTIAN.
    If you cut your hair and shave your beard then you are NO BODY. LOST & one of millions

  2. I also attended remembrance day this year with my little boy, sharing the meaning and history to him. There should be recognition given to all those that contributed to the freedom we enjoy. Chaz Singh is a breath of fresh air,in terms of his attitude and integration in mainstream society. Nice article.
