United Sikhs launches anti-bullying campaign

:dateline:As part of a video submission contest, the US based non-profit organization UNITED SIKHS has launched a campaign to curb bullying in schools. United Sikhs has teamed with Not in Our Schools (NIOS) to provide videos produced by students to be used in classrooms

United Sikhs is asking students to produce videos highlighting the Sikh identity and share their experiences in schools. The project aims at building awareness of Sikhs and helping curb bullying of students.

Sikhs have often been target of hate due to their distinct identity. Sikh students also have received backlash because of their uncut hair and turbans. Attacks on Sikhs in the United States increased dramatically post 9/11 attacks by terrorists. Sikhs were targeted by racists due to ignorance.

The submission of the contest ends November 15, giving students roughly about 15 more days to produce 5-8 minute videos. The videos must be submitted to NIOS and United Sikhs. The contest is open to anyone attending high school or a lower grade. More information about the contest is available at this link: http://unitedsikhs.org/antibi/
