Op/Ed – An Embarrassing Staged Knife Attack on Gen. Brar?

LONDON, UK—On Sunday 30th September, it was claimed by General Kuldeep Brar that he was attacked in Central London in what was described as a knife attack. The original news source was an Indian news broadcaster NDTV and the Indian High Commission in London. It is pretty serious news – a General of any country, whether it be Pakistan, India, Zimbabwe, USA, etc. being knife attacked by a gang in the capital city of Britain would be breaking news and the main headlines on all major and national news media broadcasters! However, the shocking reality is that neither of the big news broadcasters in the UK reported on any such incident as breaking news or even news worthy to have a main slot in the evening news. But two days later the first BBC news report on their website claimed the source of their news was NDTV, an Indian news broadcaster. Interestingly later the news was based on an interview with him.

So, what does Brar exactly claim happened to him?  Let’s take a look. General Brar’s wife was with him; she was allegedly pushed to the ground but was not injured.  On Monday 1st October she told NDTV, “We were walking down Oxford Circus at 10.30 pm in the night. Three bearded men attacked him and tried to slash his throat. We cannot say if they were Sikh. I was standing by watching and called for help. The ambulance was there within minutes and we rushed him to hospital.” Wow, Oxford Circus is a pretty busy place – I wonder why there are no eye witnesses?

First of all, what on earth are they both doing in the UK? How on earth did the UK allow such a figure responsible for the deaths of innocent people who led a holocaust and a possible threat to community tensions in the UK? It is like allowing a Nazi or someone responsible for the Sudan or Rwandan Holocaust permission to the UK.  When you are responsible for a holocaust and hated by Pakistanis for making the Pakistani army surrender in East Pakistan in 1971 then shouldn’t you be more responsible? This guy has Z security, so why did he not have any security in London? Sounds rather fishy!

Reconstruction of the scene

 So, who attacked him? Let me get it right, three guys with “beards” attacked him. Two days later, the story changes and now he is saying “four bearded men attacked us.” Perhaps the attack made both husband and wife’s memory fuzzy. Let’s go on. First of all we are told that the attackers were just men with beards and that they said that they “cannot say if they were Sikh.” So for all he knows it could be “three” or “four” bearded Muslims, or “three” or “four” bearded homeless men, or “three” or “four” orthodox Jews, or “three” or “four” young juvenile gang who bought fake beards from a costume shop, or “three” or “four” bearded Bollywood actors employed. But, two days later on 3rd October, Mr. Brar talks about his attack and says: “The attitude of the Punjab government will only encourage Sikh extremism. The Centre must step in before it’s too late.” So why is he now talking about Sikhs and extremism when he first said he doesn’t know who attacked him? Does this guy have an agenda?

Anything else we know about who attacked him? Well apparently at first he said they used “knives” and now Times of India on Tuesday 2nd October write that “the assailants tried to slit his throat with kirpans…” So they are claiming that the attackers are Amritdhari Sikhs when Brar himself admitted he does not know whether the attackers were Sikhs. Interesting how the Kirpan is being mentioned on purpose and added to the Bollywood drama. I wonder why this is especially mentioned?

The attackers are claimed to be “wearing dark clothing, long black jackets.” Sounds something like out of Matrix. So they have beards, long black jackets. That sounds like the description of an Orthodox Jew. If a “Sikh” attacked me, I would know he was a “Sikh” because he would be wearing a turban! But, guess what – no mention of a turban. Why would someone have a long beard and no turban and be a Sikh? Doesn’t make sense – perhaps the script writers made a small mistake?

Sorry, General Brar now changes his mind! (Whoops – perhaps the people paying him told him to change his story?) He now says to NDTV, “Suddenly four bearded tough looking men, Sikhs wearing black jackets and black clothes pounced on me, one of them pushed my wife to the side, she fell down and started screaming for help.” Stop! “Sikhs wearing black jackets”. You and your wife said they just had beards and you don’t know if they were Sikhs, i.e. they didn’t wear turbans, and now suddenly they are Sikhs. Interesting! He goes on to say now on NDTV: “Three of them charged at me, one pulled a `kirpan’, a dagger or a knife – can’t remember exactly what it was now – at that time there was a scuffle, and he tried to assassinate me and he slashed my neck with the knife.” So before they tried to attack him with a “knife” and now that “knife” has suddenly become a “kirpan”.

So common on now, there are 422,000 CCTV cameras (according to www.CCTV.co.uk) in London, and the attackers have not been caught on camera? Well apparently not. Even though he was supposedly attacked in Central London and even though he was supposedly attacked outside a busy Hotel –  no CCTV footage has been produced to identify the suspects.

What about the injuries? First of all if I had been attacked by not one, not two but four guys all with knives with the aim of killing me then it would be a miracle for me to survive without any cuts, bruises and scratches. But perhaps General Brar is the younger brother of Superman because he has no scratches and bruises, despite being 78 years old. Instead he has a plaster, yes a plaster on his face and on his neck.

Now if I had been attacked on the neck – that is pretty serious! The hospital would keep me in and advise me not to move. For me to move would be painful and agonising. So how can General Brar walk out of hospital and go back home to India the next day after a “knife attack” by a gang of four “assassins.” Sounds to good to be true – bit like a Bollywood movie!

Now, why would General Brar or higher powers stage such an attack?

  1. Since the August 2012 Wisconsin Gurdwara shooting in USA, the Western media has given positive attention to the Sikhs and it has been a platform for the West to be better informed on who Sikhs are and what the Sikh religion is. Then soon after we had the story of a young Sikh college student – Balpreet Kaur – went viral all over the world and people began to praise Sikhs. Then a week later JK Rowling comes out praising Sikhs and the Sikh religion in television, radio and newspaper interviews. For a change, the world media shared a positive story about the Sikh community. There are some people, for whom, it works in the favour to demonise the Sikhs as terrorists, so they needed a storyline to go viral that Sikhs are terrorists. Just look at how many news websites have copied and pasted news from NDTV and the Indian High Commission as if it is proven fact.
  2. General Brar said on TV a few months ago that Sikhs from abroad were exposing his crimes and he wanted them stopped, he even mentioned this on his website. So from having negative attention on him, he now has “positive” attention on him from the media for being a brave guy fighting off “three” or “four” guys and being so brave (but stupid for not having security when you have so many threats and walking around London late at night when there is a knife crime problem there!)

    In 1984 after your mother (Indir ) ordered you for attack on Golden Temle you lied to India by showing Dry notes on media that these were found in the well of Golden Temple complex they dried on removal from well and became crisp, then you told a lie that arms and ammunition was recovered from wells in Golden Temple complex, as a defence personnel i know that was a lie as arms ammunition lying in water becomes unussable unless repaired and cleaned thoroughly and that tkaes time, and now this drama see the tpaes on your face they have shifted your injuries like your lies. good work of lying Brar form the time you were offered alms by Indira Govt.

    The British Media can spot all the holes in it,hence why they arent very bothered with this, as can most people.
    If there was a genuine planned assasination of Brar trust me he would have been wiped out.
    History tells us this, look at other high profile GOI figures taken out, its too convenient, no video evidence, no witnesses nothing!

    This didnt make sense from day 1.

    Seems to me minor / not so serious an assault and hence reason he was released from hospital. Well let’s wait for evidence of CCTV, bus driver, ambulance service , Brar mobile phone calls, Did Brar go to a local police station , eye witnesses ? Which hospital , medical notes , the weapon , DNA – the list goes on …

  7. This conspiracy theory is a joke. The attack DID happen. A number of people I know (who aren’t part of the Indian government or related to Brar lol) happened to walk past the crime scene after. You say there are no significant number eyewitnesses? This is Central London, there are crowds of people moving fast in the hustle and bustle of the city. People don’t notice things happening. The street in question (Old Quebec Street) is also quieter compared to Oxford Street that it channels out of. Such attacks and muggings/pick pocketing happen under people’s noses without them noticing it in the city. The regional BBC London News did report it on tv (but it wasn’t on the national BBC News) and it was reported without bias… they even visited Southall Gurdwara to look at the views of the sangat. Some supported it, some condemned it and both views of the sangat were shown in the report. So really I don’t see what this conspiracy points to.

    U obviously are keen on the living under the whites, that’s your choice, I prefer improving India to make it better for all.
    And to be clear I was referring to the writer of the article as a brainless dud , definitely not all Sikhs.
    Also I have never stepped into a temple in my life , though born a hindu , not a religious person.
    I normally wouldnt come near such a site , but an article justifying attacks on old men for doing their duty, indefensible.

      Anyway the above article is completely biased as victims generally get shock and it takes time to recover and sometimes images of trauma might be flashy as well.

The man is 78 years old and might get a few points wrong. if i attacked you i am sure you will not be taking exact notes on what i am wearing and how many inches my beard is rather you wouid be doing your level best too defend yourself just like the General did.   16. Great article! General Brar has staged this attack and then tried to give Sikhs a bad image and to look like terrorists. I can ensure everyone, Sikhs are far from terrorists, they have been badly treated in India as they are a minority. It is time that people like General Brar pay for the crimes they HAVE committed.

  17. this guy is a Sikh himself…comes from a renowned military family. He has relatives in UK since pre-Independence days. HE is brave General had served his country in 1971. Golden temple incident may have been a mishap…but it has can’t be an intentional action. Please keep that in mind before abusing this man!

    • Being Born in Sikh Family doesn’t make you Sikh. I know people born in Sikh family who has no relation to their Guru.

      Anyway. If you could please spare some time and at least read some good record of what his army did at Darbar Sahib with Men, Women and Children. You will be better informed.

At age of 70 can act shamelessly as he is discarded Sikh and helpless prisoner puppet of Hindu Government. He must have made razor shaving cuts that can be sore and although normally very small, can bleed very heavily. Stop bleeding from a shaving cut by using a dab of Vaseline jelly. This ointment seals the nick and allows the blood clot to form, it resume the bleeding if you remove Vaseline and rub hard with hands. Brar is changing his role from retired General to old age Actor.

  21. What we need is British politicians, our elected representatives in the government to tell us why was this war criminal this genocidal maniac allowed entry into the united kingdom? Surely his presence is not align with home office guidelines against human rights abusers and against interests of national security for disturbing the peaceful British Sikh community.

    Also the Indian high commission and the external Indian Intelligence agencies (RAW,etc) has begun its propaganda war against those Sikhs who want self-determination for Sikhs. Surely its high time all of us woken up and did our bit for the panth and let our politicians and authorities knows we are really angry again we are having the wounds of injustice opened and salt rubbed in them.

  23. Bit of an unbalanced article. If I was a turbaned sikh boy trying to commit a murder, I would probably not keep my turban on – not unless I was going to hand myself into the police immediately. However, it is true it could have been a mugging or anything – nobody knows. There is an official police report that has been filed. Sources like BBC and NDTV are reliable. TOI is an awful source, and you can equate that to something like The Sun. It is still a possiblilty that the guys wanted to murder him, but killing someone is not an easy task that anyone can do – we have been bought up in a society where it is generally regarded as wrong to do that. The lack of CCTV images is a valid point – however, there are hundreds of crime incidents in central london that escape CCTV (Trust me, I have been the victim in the past)

    As a health professional, I can tell you not all neck injuries would result in overnight admission. The cut may well have been just superficial, and not deep enough to cause any serious injuries. Don’t mean to pick holes – just playing devil’s advocate. Important that we all look at two sides of an argument before coming to a conclusion.

    And agreed – leave pakistanis out of it – I mean they the ones who stand to gain the most with a buffer country.

    BBC report starts with following words… “police in London say the stabbing of the Indian general… was attempted murder”

    Now I doubt the BBC would be involved in a conspiracy… So if they checked with the police who undoubtedly would have checked Brar for injuries.. Then I must say I believe that.

    Also, killing a man is not an easy thing.. Especially in the middle of the street, so I can imagine that things went wrong..

    Anyway, would be interested in hearing your comments on the above..

  26. Amazing write up. This needs to be circulated widely. You have thought thorough every detail. We should push for CCTV footage. We need to battle this one out because all too often Sikhs are used as bate. This country, government need to reminded that Sikhs are also educated, Sikhs have a history. They are proud of who they are but why do you BRITAIN time and time again pick on us?

  30. Very well analysed. Bottom line is, there is no evidence (images/cctv) released or statement from police as of yet. So many communities hate KBrar, therefore no way we should assume Sikh men were responsible for this act….. If it took place, even.

    • Calm down. Anyone would think three quarters of ur land was unfairly taken away and given to the sikhs in one day in 1947.
