Afghanistan Bomb Blast: Sikh Leaders Stage Protest before Afghanistan Consulate

NEW DELHI—The Shiromani Akali Dal affiliated Sikh leaders taken out a protest march in New Delhi on July 3 in protest of the barbaric killings of Sikh leaders in Jalalabad on July 1. Starting from the Teen Moorti Chowk of New Delhi, the march concluded in front of the Afghanistan Consulate where the Sikh protester staged a protest.

The Sikh protesters headed by SGPC president S. Gobind Singh Longowal, DSGMC president S. Manjit Singh GK, Parliamentarians S. Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa & S. Prem Singh Chandumajra were carrying placards seeking security for native Sikhs of Afghanistan.

Firstly, the Consulate officials came outside to receive memorandum, but the SAD leaders refused to submit memorandum to them and asked them to send the Afghanistan’s Ambassador to receive the memorandum. At last, the Afghanistan’s Ambassador to India Mr.  Shaida Abdali received a memorandum from the protesting Sikhs.

Sharing the development with media, the DSGMC president S. Manjit Singh GK said that the Afghan Ambassador Mr. Shaida Abdali promised of conveying their demands for the security of Sikhs to the Afghanistan government. He added that the Afghanistan’s consulate admitted that the entire Afghanistan was a victim of terrorism at present.

Before this, these Sikh leaders also raked up the issue of insecurity of Sikh shrines and Sikhs in Afghanistan with the Union Foreign Minister Mrs. Sushma Swaraj. They also apprised her about the plan to send a joint delegation of DSGMC and other Sikh bodies to Afghanistan.
