Muslims & Non-Sikh UP migrants in SGPC voters lists

AMRITSAR SAHIB—The Panthik Morcha (PM) candidate for Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) elections from Tarn Taran, Harbhajan Singh Khalsa has demanded chief election commissioner, gurdwara elections, to cancel the candidature of SAD (B) candidate Alwinderpal Singh Pakhoke for enlisting Muslims and UP migrants as voters in Pakhoke village for gurdwara body elections.

Talking to TOI on Thursday, Khalsa said gurdwara voters lists had [the] names of 16 Muslims and two UP migrants. He also alleged that in Deo village, [the] majority of voters’ names have been duplicated in two polling booths.

Expressing ignorance about Muslim voters in gurdwara election list, Pakhoke said his opponents were hatching a conspiracy against him. Deputy commissioner Satwant Singh couldn’t be contacted for comments.
