Sikh24 has learned from unconfirmed sources that policemen were involved in firing at two Sikhs after an altercation.  It is being rumored that robbers were also stopped from stealing from a local Gurdwara there.  The incident apparently took place outside the Police Post when members of the Dalit Community abused and attacked a Sikh student.

Meanwhile, the following message was posted on the fan page of Manjit Singh GK on Facebook –

“Appeal to all by the President DSGMC Manjit Singh GK, Manjinder Singh Sirsa and Harmit Singh Kalka, as they all are traveling an out of country and town. Please maintain peace and do not get provoked by the news of clash between groups at Tilak Vihar so that further no damage is done.

Area Members DSGMC and responsible people are already there trying to work out with the authorities to solve the case.”

In a separate statement, former DSGMC President Paramjit Sarna also appealed to not resort to violence.  He stated that the culprits would be brought to justice.

The incident has come when the entire country is busy celebrating its Independence Day.   The “Widow Colony” of Sikh women from the 1984 Sikh Genocide is situated in Tilak Nagar of New Delhi.

  1. Why we see only religion first in India. Whats difference between hindus and sikh. its one family
now time for education and success to make India strong.

  2. ye channel rumours fahlaraha hai, es area ma sikh hi jyada rhte hai, police ma bhi kaphi police wala hai, sikh hi balmiki ko caste remark kar provok karte hai, es area ke sikh bhi dusre trah ke hai, siklegar hai, dono mai se koi kam nahi hai. ye local problem hai. ye sikh- hindu jaisa kuchh bhi nhi hai

  3. Muslims from Kashmir are also with u our Brothers.Indian Govt and Indian agencies have always tried to suppress the Minorities..Sikhs and Muslims Particularly

  4. I was very angry after reading this news. Called my family and told them everything. They got upset too and we called our relatives in Delhi.
Oh Lord what a surprise! Relatives laughed at this and promised to call back after getting all news from their nears and dears in the area. Yes, we got that call back sometime ago. Simple answer – Wait for the situation to settle down and only look for credible news source. A minority focussed website such as the one we are currently will obviously paint one side of the picture only – common sense.

Actual facts as told to me – The boys in the area are no better than the other side. They commit all such things that are outlawed to all Sikhs. They will smoke when no-one is looking.. most will cut their kesh (hair) to look cool and “In” with the crowd and whenever something happens, suddenly they will claim to be all “Khalas” (Pure). They will openly indulge in using the outlawed word – “Ch**r*y” when talking to the other side. They will constantly belittle them. This constantly leads to tensions running high and nobody can put up with constant insults and belittling.

End of the day, two “groups” of people clashed. Police stepped in and did what they could to control a mob that had gone totally bonkers, fuelled by their Ego and false religious pride on both sides. Opinion is divided on who started it “today”. Nobody knows who was the real culprit yesterday… who was the real aggressor yesterday and days before that. Could have been the Valmiki community boys? Maybe. The Tilak Nagar boys who think they are more superior in every respect? Even more likely.

Regarding the YouTube video – the title of the video itself gives an indication as to what kind of picture is the editing group trying to show.. what side’s picture they want to show to gain maximum eyeballs. Among the groups, Who has more TV’s to watch controversy anyways? That’s the group you go after to get the eye balls and the advertising revenue. It’s a dirty mess, Indian media.

You may choose to agree or disagree with the above. Only stating the general consensus among the people actually in the area and with some actual real education and experience to back up their observations. However, the “Keyboard Warriors”, I see are pretty unhappy about this. Go for it. Tear me apart. Satisfy your ego.

  5. The Sikh community is still fighting to get justice for the November 1984 killings and August 15 attack is yet another reminder of denial of justice to Sikhs, added Peermohammad.

  6. Deliberate attempt by local politicians and mafia to flare up tensions and start a sikh minority panic regime… all this is just for 2014 elections… all people should stay absolutely calm. This is just local hooliganism and the police have only helped to unnecessarily exacerbate the situation. Conspiracy. Delhites, Tilak Vihar residents, watch out! Stand for peace and do not get caught in this communal frenzy being raked up by people with political agenda

  7. Unforunately, a few rotten eggs in the batch will manage to cause an outburst and every sikh and hindu likewise will be in fault. We can obviously see that Sikhs and Hindus consider each other brothers but yet the actions of a few will result in violence for the two distinct communities. Considering the past relations that the Sikh and Hindus have, it seems there will always be a few minority of people that will have hatred towards each other which will mean the rest of the community will be dragged in. Only solution will be to segregate them from each other.

  8. ….in this country justice does not come…as seen in 1984 roits cases..it is defrauded & schemed……..it survives in our minds and heart…. on the independence day…sikhs are shoot in the middle of city by police… this is really shameful……..

  9. I hope harminder Singh is right, This is insane cant even accept the thought that sikhs can be targeted they are our brothers and I respect the community as a whole. If there is something like this, culprits must be arrested at the earliest and given adequate punishment so that these things are nt repeated. Hope for peace and prosperity of the community.

  10. Man,,Media is wrong, it was not an attack on Sikhs,, it was a case of Road Rage which was escalated.. few young men were riding their bikes very dangerousely in a colony and hit some one,,then people of the colony beat up the guys,, the guys came back with their friend and beat the other youth of the colony,, and all this rubbish started,, and look at these newschannels trying to tell people that there was Firing on Sikhs,, so rubbish,,,,

  11. i am also leaving in tilak nagar but the main reason for firing is to two childrens are fitting for there kites and that is the main issue which all are forgetted there is not a specific religious firing on sikhs thats not true.

  12. There are thousands of paramilitary and police deployed there. Sikhs were beaten up and shot at by the forces.

I live in Uttam nagar and its about 2 kms from here. I just came back from there.
