PATIALA, Punjab—Although the movie by Kuljinder Singh Sidhu and Dinesh Sood has been welcomed by Punjabis living outside, problems seem to endure in Punjab. It is only now that Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana has shared his criticism over the movie. Bhai Rajoana is lodged in Patiala Central Jail for the assassination case of former CM Beant ‘Singh’ since 1995. He however only came to the limelight recently after his execution orders were passed by the Government last year.
Bhai Rajoana has called the movie story line “fake” and stated that Bhai Hawara was not even in Chandigarh when the bomb blast took place.
POTENTIAL THREAT TO THE CASE OF BHAI HAWARA AND LIVES OF MOVIE CREW
The statement by Bhai Rajoana is being seen as damaging to the court case of Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara. Did Bhai Rajoana purposely make this statement in order to irk Bhai Hawara to claim some responsibility in this case? Due to absence of proofs against him, Bhai Hawara has already denied involvement in the assassination plot to challenge the court judgment. Hawara however refused to file a mercy plea so he does face an eminent execution threat. If Bhai Hawara does come up and takes responsibility, it would only hurt his case, and those of others.
The threat by Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana has also put the movie makers of Sadda Haq in jeopardy. Bhai Rajoana has stated that the movie was made with the ultimate motive of promoting Bhai Hawara. Kuljinder Singh Sidhu and Dinesh Sood have already been threatened by KP Gill for promoting terrorism.
The movie’s main character Kartar Singh Baaz has been inspired from Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara, while a sub character, Rajwant Singh Raja seems to have been inspired from Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana. The movie disclaimer however clearly states that any similarities in the movie to real life incidents are purely coincidental.
The statement by Bhai Rajoana has come after the Shiromani Akali Dal had already shown its reluctance to allow the movie in Punjab, despite the Supreme Court and the Censor Board having given it a green light. The Akali Government had tried its best to stop the movie from screening.

“Sat Siri Akal, from the very first day we have been telling all of you that Sadda Haq is inspired from true events but we never said its a true story or a biopic. The recent controversy on this issue is meaningless so please don’t argue on this issue. As most of you who know the reality should inform others that we have taken the cinematic liberty to present the real story of Punjab. The objective of the movie was to present the true picture of that era in a creative way and we feel that we have achieved our Goal quite successfully so please avoid any unnecessary controversy on this issue. WAHEGURU”

Mother of Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana was electrocuted at her residence around 10 am on May 13, 2013; The Bhog Ceremony Will Be Held On May 22, 2013 from 12 pm onward at Village Kothe Pipli (Mehraj), Tehsil Phul, District Bathinda, Punjab (INDIA).

Similarly, Bibi Surjeet Kaur was more than the mother of Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana and she was electrocuted at her residence around 10 am on May 13, 2013 when she was doing household chores. She was found dead when her husband, Sardar Jaswant Singh arrived on the scene.
Bibi Surjeet Kaur, mother of Kamaldeep Kaur wife of Baljit Singh Sooch was a resident of Village Kothe Pipli (Mehraj), Tehsil Phul, District Bathinda, Punjab (INDIA) and mother of Shaheed Bhai Harpinder Singh Goldy and Bibi Amandeep Kaur.
The cause of death has been identified so far as a defective electric fan due to which Surjeet Kaur got electrocuted.
Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana is currently in jail facing a death sentence in the then CM Beant Singh assassination case and the then CM Beant Singh was a symbol of extreme cruelty against Sikhs.
Balbir Singh Sooch, Advocate, Ludhiana along with his wife, Surinder Kaur, being their close relative, met the family in distress after the demise of the mother of Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana, who is in jail as already said.
The family in distress suffered extremely so far, and, has stories of untold sufferings even after the false encounters of Shaheed Bhai Harpinder Singh Goldy and Bibi Amandeep Kaur by the State of India.
