Sikh Pilgrims Denied Visa by Pakistan to Mark Martyrdom Anniversary

AMRITSAR SAHIB—A ‘jatha’ of 81 Sikh pilgrims has been denied visa by the Pakistan Embassy due to which the Sikh pilgrims won’t be able to attend the 412th martyrdom anniversary programs at Gurdwara Sri Dehra Sahib (Lahore). Notably, the passports of the 81 wishful Sikh devotees were sent to the Pakistani High Commission for visa stamping by the SGPC.

Sharing the development with Sikh24, the SGPC president S. Gobind Singh Longowal informed that the SGPC had sought 10 days visa (from June 9 to June 18) for the Sikh pilgrims to mark martyrdom anniversary of fifth Sikh master Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji but the Pakistan Embassy didn’t grant visa. He added that the Pakistan Embassy has hurt Sikh sentiments by doing so.

  1. Sentiments of Sikhs are hurt everyday by the govt of India, so what is the big deal if Pakistan does the same thing. No one protects the minorities. This is another reason that all the minorities in India join together and p then these things won’t happen.
