Holocaust June-1984: SGPC Appeals Sikh Outfits to Maintain Peace on June 6

AMRITSAR SAHIB—The SGPC president S. Gobind Singh Longowal on May 24 underwent a special meeting with other SGPC officials to deliberate upon preparations for marking the 34th anniversary of the June-1984 holocaust. He issued some special directions to the SGPC officials regarding the annual anniversary of the June-1984 holocaust to be observed on June 6.

Sharing the development with media, Longowal said that the wounds of June-1984 holocaust in the Sikh psyche could never be healed. He added that the Sikh community could never forget how the Indian government broke out calamity with an armed attack on the holiest Sikh shrine Sri Harmandir Sahib.

Seeking support from the Sikh outfits to mark this historic day, Longowal has appealed them to keep the environment peaceful. He has also asked the Punjab government to do needful so that the Sikh devotees can smoothly pay obeisance at Sri Akal Takht Sahib on this historic day.
