SGPC honors Sarafkot Villagers under ‘One Village, One Gurdwara’ Campaign

AMRITSAR SAHIB—Residents of Sarafkot village (near Fatehgarh Churian) were specially honored today by the SGPC president S. Gobind Singh Longowal for centralizing Gurdwara Sahib in their village by closing four other ones. Notably, the SGPC is running a campaign named ‘One Village One Gurdwara’ to give end to caste based division among Sikh community by ensuring existence of only one Gurdwara Sahib in each village.

In a program held today at village Sarafkot, the SGPC president S. Gobind Singh Longowal said that the ‘One Village One Gurdwara’ campaign will become base for unity among Sikhs beside putting control over rising incidents of sacrilege of sacred corpus of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Laying stress on the need of Panthik unity, Longowal said that a large number of anti-Sikhism groups are continuously active to attack Sikh dignity.

SGPC appointed Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh said that the great Sikh masters have taught us the lesson of social equality and we should adopt the path depicted by our great masters. He hailed the SGPC president S. Gobind Singh Longowal for beginning ‘One Village One Gurdwara’ campaign.
