SGPC replaces Sri Harmandir Sahib’s Manager under Political Pressure

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—The apex Sikh body Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee on May 9 replaced the existing manager of Sri Harmandir Sahib Sulakhan Singh Bhangali by appointing Jaswinder Singh Deenpur in his place. It is learnt that S. Sulakhan Singh Bhangali has been replaced under pressure of Bikram Singh Majithia as he had exposed Talbir Singh Gill’s recommendation for endorsing visa application of Kiran Bala to Pakistani consulate. Talbir Singh Gill is close aide of Akali leader Bikram Majithia.

It is pertinent to note here that Kiran Bala had run from the Sikh jatha to marry a Muslim youth in Pakistan and got converted into Islam. The row had erupted after her father-in-law had publicly appealed the Indian government to ensure extradition of Kiran Bala back to India as she is mother of three children.

Jaswinder Singh Deenpur took charge as Manager of Sri Harmandir Sahib on May 9 amid presence of Singh Sahib Giani Jaswant Singh, SGPC’s executive member Gurmeet Singh Booh, SGPC member Charanjit Singh, SGPC Secretaries Manjit Singh Bath and Avtar Singh Sainpla, Additional Secretaries Diljeet Singh Bedi and Balwinder Singh Jaura Singh etc.
