Jagmeet Brar to Launch Agitation Against GST on ‘Langar’ on May 31

AMRITSAR SAHIB—Former Indian Parliamentarian Jagmeet Singh Brar has announced to launch an agitation seeking exemption of GST on ‘langar’ (free community meal) offered at Sri Harmandir Sahib and special status for Punjab. He has announced to begin this agitation from Sri Mukatsar Sahib on May 31.

Interacting with media after paying obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib on May 10, Jagmeet Singh Brar categorized the BJP’s regime for Sikhs as worse than Aurangzeb’s regime. He announced that if the saffron Indian government doesn’t rollback its decision of imposing GST (Goods & Services Tax) on ‘langar’ (free community meal) offered at Sri Harmandir Sahib by May 31 then he will launch an agitation from Sri Mukatsar Sahib.

It is pertinent to note here that the saffron Indian government has been denying exemption of GST on ‘langar’ (free community meal) of Sri Harmandir Sahib despite repeated requests by the SGPC. Now, the Indian government has even stopped responding to SGPC’s requests. Recently, the Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Sngh had announced to waive off state quota from GST imposed on ‘langar’ (free community meal).
