1984 Sikh Genocide: Rajnath Singh Apprised of Non-Functional Status of SIT

NEW DELHI—The BJP’s national secretary RP Singh on May 10 wrote a letter to the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to apprise him about non-functional status of the Special Investigation Team appointed by the Supreme Court to re-probe Sikh genocide cases.

He has written in the letter that the SIT has been non-functional from the last three months as one of the IPS (Retired) officer Rajdeep Singh refused to take his charge. He has appealed the Union Home Minister to immediately send name of another IPS officer to the Supreme Court so that the SIT could begin investigation of cases pertaining to 1984-Sikh genocide.

It may be recalled here that the Supreme Court of India had appointed a Special Investigation Team under the leadership of Justice S.N Dhingra in February-2018 to re-probe Sikh genocide cases. Initially, two IPS officers were appointed in this SIT along with Justice S.N Dhingra.

  1. All the Sikh organisations are morally dead, that is why even after almost 35 years there is no justice for the victims of Sikh Genocide.
