Dhadi Diwans resume at Sri Akal Takht Sahib

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Dhadi Diwans at the supreme Sikh throne Sri Akal Takht Sahib were resumed today after settlement between two factions namely Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Shiromani Dhadi Sabha and Miri Piri Shiromani Dhadi Sabha. It is learnt that SGPC appointed Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh actively resolved the standoff between two factions observing sharp wrath among Sikh masses over his historic mistake of banning Dhadi Diwans at Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

It may be recalled here that Giani Gurbachan Singh had imposed ban on Dhadi Diwans at Sri Akal Takht Sahib on May 1 due to conflict between two factions namely Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Shiromani Dhadi Sabha and Miri Piri Shiromani Dhadi Sabha over distribution of performance hours.

On May 8, both groups were called at the Akal Takht Secretariat in the presence of the Giani Gurbachan Singh, Secretary of the Dharam Parchar Committee Balwinder Singh Jaura and Darbar Sahib manager Sulakhan Singh.

After hearing both sides, the Jathedar authorised the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee’s Dharam Parchar Committee to scrutinise the authenticity and credentials of the Jathas that would perform at Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

As an interim arrangement, both groups have been directed to stage Diwans for three days each at the Akal Takht.

“The Dhadi groups have been issued a pro forma to be deposited with Balwinder Singh Jaura. It will be the discretion of the committee to gauge their aptitude and conduct test, if necessary. The timings will be divided among those who will be endorsed by the Dharam Parchar Committee,” said the Giani Gurbachan Singh.

Meanwhile, the president of Sri Guru Hargobind group Bhai Baldev Singh MA and the president of the Miri Piri group, Lakhwinder Singh, have announced to abide by directions of Giani Gurbachan Singh.
