Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa brutally thrashed by DSP Jaswinder Singh for shunning water

LUDHIANA, Punjab—Octogenarian hunger strike activist Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa was brutally thrashed and abused by the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dakha) Jaswinder Singh on April 11. It is learnt that the DSP Jaswinder Singh thrashed Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa as he removed the food pipes. DSP Jaswinder wanted to force Bapu Surat Singh to start taking liquid diet and water.

On being contacted by Sikh24, Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa informed that he has shunned drinking water also from April 10 onwards. He added that the DSP (Dakha) Jaswinder Singh came to his ward in Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (Ludhiana) and brutally beat him besides swearing with extremely vulgar wording.

Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa further informed that Ludhiana’s Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police had promised him facilitate meeting with Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh about the release of political Sikh prisoners. “I had started accepting nasal feed after this but now watching no development in this concern I have shun water also” he added.

Strongly condemning the SGPC for initially giving nod to ‘Nanak Shah Fakir’, Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa said that the situation won’t have turned so worse if the SGPC would have remained conscious about Sikh ethos. He added that the induction of pageantry into Sikhism needs to be controlled immediately otherwise anyone would start playing role of our great Sikh masters.
