EMERGING: Police Attempted to Cremate Bhai Gurbakhsh Singh Khalsa’s Dead Body Without Consulting Family

KURUKSHETRA, Haryana—As per latest developments, Sikh24 has learnt that the police had tried to carry out Bhai Gurbaksh Singh’s final rites without fully consulting with the family. This however led family members and activists from various Sikh organization to revolt. The dead body is now likely to be cremated on March 23 at his native village Thaska Ali (Kurukshetra) of Haryana in presence of Sikh Sangat.

Notably, Bhai Gurbakhsh Singh Khalsa had passed away on March 20 after being forced to jump from the water tank of his village.

It is pertinent to note here that the Kurukshetra administration tried its best to cremate Bhai Khalsa’s body at the earliest after autopsy. But the administration had to bow before pressure built up by the Sikh activists and the dead body of Bhai Khalsa was handed over to the family on March 21.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that the Kurukshetra police have registered an FIR under sections 302 of IPC (Indian Penal Code) against unidentified elements despite having knowledge of the police cops who forced Bhai Khalsa to jump from water tank.

Sikh activist Bhai Papalpreet Singh has said that the cause, for which Bhai Khalsa has sacrificed his life, should remain alive. He has appealed the Sikh masses to get united in building public momentum to get released the political Sikh prisoners.

Speaking to Sikh24, United Akali Dal’s General Secretary S. Gurdeep Singh Bathinda informed that the Antim Ardas for Bhai Khalsa’s departed soul has been scheduled to be held at Gurdwara Sri Lakhnaur Sahib March 29.
