SAD (Amritsar) Regional Office Ransacked; Computer and Other Equipment Stolen

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Two unidentified men ransacked the regional office of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) on the intervening night of March 10 & 11 in Amritsar Sahib. Prima facie reveal that the attack was focused on stealing computers and other official data to grab confidential information of party activities.

Sharing the development with Sikh24, General Secretary of SAD (Amritsar) S. Amrik Singh Ballowal informed that the thieves took away a computer and DVR of CCTV cameras installed there. He opined that the office has been targeted to get information about the agreement between SAD (Amritsar) and BAMCEF (The All India Backward and Minority Communities Employees Federation) as the Indian agencies have been in tension about this agreement. “The thieves also took away visitor entry register and preachment material from the office,” he added.

Strongly criticizing this theft attack, Sikh activist S. Papalpreet Singh has said that the preference of thieves in stealing the equipment manifests a lot about their affiliation. He added that it was very unfortunate that the Sikhs were not even allowed to freely work politically in India. “SAD (Amritsar) has been struggling for a sovereign Sikh state in a purely democratic way, but still the Indian agencies are targeting it using every fair & foul tactic,” he added.
