Gurbani Word Of The Day: kaagad

ਕਾਗਦ (kaagad)

Meaning: noun: Paper.

Quote:

naanak kaagad lakh maaa   pa pa keechai bhaau.
Nanak! If there are hundreds of thousands of stacks of paper, and one reads and tries to find the essence (of the writings scribed on those papers, still, the greatness of the Creator cannot be estimated). -Guru Nanak Sahib, Guru Granth Sahib, 15

Message: Were we to have tons of books to read, reflect, and then write down the attributes of the Creator, and further, were our pens to move as fast as the wind and our ink to never fall short, even then, His glory and greatness could not be estimated.

The Almighty Creator, His power and creation are limitless and indescribable. We are finite, mere creatures. Instead of trying to find His limits, let’s try to realise the immense value of life. Let us live it fruitfully by exercising our underlying potential for living a virtuous life and doing good to others.

Etymology: From Persian kaaghaz (paper).
