Chief Khalsa Diwan’s elections deferred onto March 25

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—General meeting of Chief Khalsa Diwan meeting to elect its new officials has been postponed onto March 25. Earlier, March 4 was scheduled for this general meeting to elect new President, Vice President and Honorary Secretary of Chief Khalsa Diwan. This decision was taken in an executive meet of CKD members on February 27.

Sharing the development with Sikh24, CKD’s acting President Dhanraj Singh informed that the general meeting for elections to the three posts has been deferred on the request by CKD members.

It is learnt that majority of members emphasized on adoption of transparent and fair election process and demanded to appoint the returning officers at first instance. It was approved by the committee.

Other decision taken during the meeting, headed by acting president Dhanraj Singh, was constitution of a grievances redressal committee.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that as many as 11 aspirants have applied for the posts of president, vice president and honorary secretary.

It is pertinent to note here that the CKD had recently faced the ignominious exit of former president Charanjit Chadha and unfortunate demise of his son Inderpreet Chadha (vice president). A chair of honorary secretary is already vacant.
